What the HEC?
Saturday, November 19th, 2005***Update: I’m glad I decided to walk. It turns out they now have 2 courtesy shuttle busses, instead of only one like I was used to, but I decided to walk anyway. It was nice and refreshing- I wasn’t cold since I had my winter jacket, and the air was cool and crisp. I got to see the new RPAC. They’ve only finished the phase 1, and it already looks really good. You know the drawings you see of “this is what buildings will look like in the future”? Well, it looks like that. There has been so much construction going on at Ohio State that the campus is a lot different than when I first came here, and now that the construction is finishing up, I have to say that the changes are for the better- all of the new buildings are really cool. In my 6 years here these are some of the things that have changed: Finished the stadium renovations, redid the Lane ave. bridge and widened it, built the physics research building, built the neil ave. parking garage, replaced Larking with RPAC, and they redid mirror lake. During the hike to my car I took some pictures, which I’ve been doing a little bit all quarter, and I shall now post them for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy! Also, OSU beat Michigan! Woo Hoo!***
I’m tired. It’s almost 1:00 and I’m still at work. For the last week I’ve been working on my CS&E lab 3… And staying up until 4:00am the past 2 nights working on it. Tonight I just stayed at work so I could work on my lab away from the distractions of home… Like yesterday when everybody else went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and I had to stay and work on the lab. That sucked. Anyway, the lab was due tonight at midnight. I finished it, but just barely. I turned it in at 11:59:34. There were still a few kinks that I would have liked to work out, but they’ll have to wait until lab 4. They were nothing major, though. I’m pretty certain I’ll get another A on this lab. Of course, because I feel good about my hard earned score it means I’ll get a C. I’ll put the pictures from the lab up as soon as I publish this post. You can see them in the picture gallery to the right. Which I’m still proud of. Any suggestions for it?
Next week is thanksgiving already. Wow- it was just halloween. Time goes by fast when you’re as busy as I’ve been. My math teacher today was talking to me after class, and remarked how I don’t fit in with the other students. “Obviously you’re older” he said. “What are you, about 28 or 29 years old?” I was a little taken aback, since as you all know I’m only 23. It must be the beard, I guess. Or the 4 hours of sleep last night. Or the end-of-quarter stress I’ve been under lately. Or a combination of those things and the fact that I haven’t had a haircut in a while; I’m pretty scruffy lookin’. Most people think I’m younger than I am, probably because I’m still an underclassman. For thanksgiving this year Jeff and I decided to drive down (instead of Flying) to Virginia to see Dad. I think it’ll be fun. Speaking of road trips, a few of my friends and I are going to NYC this December after finals but before Christmas. The hotel we’re staying in looks pretty nice, at least from the website. So I’ve got a bunch of things to look forward to.
OK, I’m tired, and I’m rambling, and I’m pretty sure that now I’m going to have to walk out to my car on west campus. They used to have a courtesy shuttle running around campus overnight, but it would come once every half hour and I have no clue what the schedule is anymore, or even if it still exists. Suddenly (as if to simply make the midnight trek to my car that much more interesting), winter has arrived here in Ohio. It’s been cold the last few days, after reaching 75 earlier this week. Current temperature: 29 degrees Fahrenheit. It looks like it’ll be a cool but otherwise nice day for the big game tomorrow. (Wasn’t that a great weather segue?) I don’t think I can stress this enough: GO BUCKS- MUCK FICHIGAN!. Also, I want Michigan State to beat Penn State- unless we lose tomorrow. Then I root for JoePa, because Penn State deserves the Big Ten automatic BCS bid more than Michigan. But not more than the Buckeyes
. Now that I’ve gotten over our loss to them, I’m rooting for Texas to win the National Championship this year.
I’ll leave you all with these lyrics. The first one to post the artist and the song they’re from in the comments section wins a gold star from me. If Megan gets it right, I’ll know she just googled it and she gets nothing. In fact, if that happens, she’ll get a frown-y face, because googling (or yahooing, altavistaing, asking jeeves, webcrawling, metacrawling, msnsearching, hotboting, farking, slashdotting, dogpiling, etc.) the lyrics is against the rules. And please don’t break the rules- it cheapens the entire gold-star system.
There’s a song that they sing when they take to the highway
A song that they sing when they take to the sea
A song that they sing of their home in the sky
Maybe you can believe it if it helps you to sleep
But singing works just fine for me
